@Kingjonny557 some bb guns like the Gamo Expo 26 makes a loud gun shot almost as loud as a 22 and emits smoke and its only spring powered, shoots .177 (basically 17 caliber ball) at 700+ Feet Per Second

thier is gas rifles that shoot around 430fps using green gas or red gas and the non gas guns are ones that use springs to fire must be cocked manually or there is AEG automatic electric gun which are very popular primarys but spring guns cost a fraction (if they’re pistols) Hope I helped
Kingjohnny I’ll tell you how airsoft guns work, this type is called a gas blowback becuase it uses gas to propell a 6mm plastic bb usally at 300 fps for a pistol using green or red gas its called a gas blowback becuase the slide blows back mimicking a real gun but the slide is propelled back by gas not by recoil forces from a real gun using gunpowder the is also Gas non blow back which saves alot of gas but the slide does not go back it remains stationary

@Kingjonny557 Nope, only the loud clacking from the slide giong back and the pop from the gas coming out. I always wondering if you could take a cap from a cap gun, put a bb in it and shoot it tho. Prolly not but it would be cool if you could.

@Kingjonny557 Your kinda right. While yes he is firing BBs the sound is coming from the gas propelling the bb and forcing the slide back, so if you dry fire it without BBs it will still make that noise.
